Responsibilities
- Administer state employee pension plans including retirement calculations, benefit distributions, and survivor benefits
- Ensure compliance with federal ERISA regulations and state pension statutes
- Manage participant communications regarding retirement planning and eligibility
- Oversee pension fund investments and actuarial reporting
- Process retirement applications and coordinate with payroll systems
- Conduct periodic audits and prepare financial statements
- Develop and maintain pension policy documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a), and state pension regulations
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
- Ability to manage confidential data with discretion and integrity
