We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Government Pension Plan Analyst to support our mission of ensuring financial stability for state retirees. This is a unique opportunity to work in the heart of Chicago with a hybrid schedule that includes weekend shift availability and remote work flexibility.
In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our retirement funds, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and providing exceptional service to our members.
Responsibilities
- Analyze pension contribution data and member accounts to ensure accurate benefit calculations and regulatory compliance.
- Manage weekend processing tasks, including data reconciliation, error resolution, and system updates for the pension database.
- Conduct audits of retirement plan documentation to mitigate financial risk and ensure adherence to ERISA and IRC guidelines.
- Respond to complex inquiries from government employees and retirees regarding eligibility, vesting, and payout schedules.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to produce quarterly funding reports and long-term solvency projections.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal data in accordance with government security protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, government benefits, or actuarial analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state retirement laws (ERISA, IRC Section 401(a)).
- Proven ability to work effectively during weekend shifts while demonstrating high productivity and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, PivotTables) and experience with ERP or HRIS systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
