Role Overview:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the accurate processing of pension applications, disbursements, and member communications during weekend hours. You will act as a liaison between retirees and the treasury department, ensuring that critical financial transactions are handled with the utmost precision and care.
Responsibilities
- Process and verify pension benefit requests and weekend disbursements with high accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines.
- Provide exceptional customer service to retirees and beneficiaries via phone, email, and in-person inquiries regarding their pension accounts.
- Conduct data entry and reconciliation of pension records, ensuring all financial data is up-to-date in the state mainframe.
- Assist in the administration of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) and related benefit programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA and local government pension laws.
- Collaborate with the full-time team to resolve complex pension discrepancies and escalations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and retiree financial data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, payroll processing, or a related financial role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of government retirement systems, specifically TCRS or similar state-sponsored plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and state-specific financial software.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to detect errors and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and effectively during weekend shifts without direct supervision.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
