Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity for VA facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize system downtime and improve user experience.
- Manage network security protocols and firewalls to protect sensitive federal data and patient information.
- Configure and administer routers, switches, and wireless access points using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support digital transformation and IT modernization initiatives.
- Conduct regular system audits, performance tuning, and capacity planning to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on network-related issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- At least 3 years of professional experience in network administration, systems engineering, or IT support.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and network troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with federal IT security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA) and compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Server environments and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
