Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain network security infrastructure including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA systems
- Monitor security alerts and coordinate incident response for potential breaches
- Create and implement security awareness training for 500+ employees
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, HIPAA, and NIST cybersecurity frameworks
- Collaborate with IT teams on secure system architecture design
- Manage security documentation and audit preparation materials
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- 3+ years of cybersecurity experience in federal/government environments
- Active CISSP or Security+ certification required
- Proficiency in SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) and vulnerability scanning tools
- Knowledge of VA-specific IT security policies and procedures
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and cloud security (AWS/Azure)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 background clearance
