Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain NIST-compliant cybersecurity frameworks across VA networks
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on medical IT systems
- Develop incident response plans for cyber threats and data breaches
- Manage security information and event management (SIEM) systems
- Coordinate with federal partners on security compliance audits
- Mentor junior IT staff on security best practices
- Document security policies and procedures for federal compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years in cybersecurity roles with federal/government experience preferred
- Active Security+ CE or CISSP certification required
- Expert knowledge of FISMA, HIPAA, and NIST 800-53 standards
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and vulnerability scanners
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 federal security clearance
- Strong analytical skills for threat detection and mitigation
