Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain network security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, and endpoint protection platforms
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA systems
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for threat detection
- Develop incident response plans and lead security breach investigations
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and regulations
- Provide security awareness training to staff across the facility
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into new system deployments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of professional cybersecurity experience
- Security+ CE certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks (NIST, FISMA, CUI)
- Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and vulnerability scanners
- Active DoD Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
