Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain NIST-compliant cybersecurity frameworks across VA systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on federal networks
- Develop incident response plans and lead security breach investigations
- Manage identity and access control systems using Active Directory and SSO
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into system development lifecycle
- Monitor security operations center alerts and respond to emerging threats
- Prepare compliance reports for federal audits and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in federal IT security roles
- Active CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA Security+ certification
- Experience with FISMA compliance frameworks and NIST SP 800-53
- Knowledge of DoD RMF (Risk Management Framework) implementation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
- Strong analytical skills and experience with security monitoring tools (Splunk, SIEM)
