Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity systems to protect VA networks and data
- Conduct security assessments and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities
- Develop incident response plans and lead cybersecurity breach mitigation efforts
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST, and other federal security frameworks
- Collaborate with IT teams on secure system architecture and integration
- Monitor security alerts and respond to potential threats in real-time
- Provide technical guidance on cybersecurity best practices to stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in federal cybersecurity roles
- CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent certification required
- Proficiency in network security tools (e.g., Splunk, Palo Alto)
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure) and IAM systems
- Knowledge of federal IT security policies (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
