Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the agency’s Information Security Program in strict compliance with FISMA and NIST SP 800-53 standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive security assessments, vulnerability scans, and risk analyses to identify and mitigate threats within federal information systems.
  • Lead the incident response process for cybersecurity breaches, ensuring rapid containment and recovery to minimize operational impact.
  • Manage the personnel security clearance process, ensuring all applicants meet stringent federal vetting requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical security documentation, including Security Plans, Contingency Plans, and System Security Authorization Agreements (SSAA).
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security controls into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
  • Provide expert technical guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity best practices and compliance protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and specialized experience.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain one) is mandatory for this position.
  • One year of specialized experience performing IT security analysis, risk assessment, or information assurance on federal systems.
  • Deep working knowledge of federal security frameworks, specifically NIST SP 800-53 and FISMA requirements.
  • Proficiency in utilizing security tools and technologies, such as Splunk, SIEM, FireEye, or similar intrusion detection systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network and system security issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating technical jargon for non-technical stakeholders.
