Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity policies and procedures in alignment with NIST and FISMA standards
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA systems and networks
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools and respond to incidents within SLA requirements
- Develop and deliver security awareness training for VA personnel
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security controls into new systems and applications
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations including HIPAA, CUI, and FedRAMP
- Document security incidents, remediation actions, and maintain audit trails
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in federal IT security roles
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification (or equivalent)
- Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and vulnerability scanners
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 security controls framework
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
