Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), ensuring high availability and performance for city departments.
- Configure, install, and troubleshoot hardware and software systems for government employees and public access terminals.
- Implement and monitor security measures to protect city data and IT infrastructure from cyber threats.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support and documentation for IT service requests and incidents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute IT projects and upgrades.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery testing to ensure business continuity.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration or IT support within a large organization.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and firewalls.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during system maintenance windows.
