Responsibilities
- Manage Information System Security: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security measures to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.
- Conduct Vulnerability Assessments: Perform regular scans and tests to identify security weaknesses within the network infrastructure and implement corrective actions.
- Incident Response Support: Serve as a key responder to cybersecurity incidents, investigating breaches and coordinating recovery efforts.
- Security Architecture: Design and deploy security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
- Policy Compliance: Ensure all systems adhere to federal regulations, such as NIST and FISMA, and internal VA security policies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. (Or 3 years of specialized experience in lieu of a degree).
- Certification: Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred. CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in IT security, network administration, or information assurance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and network firewalls.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
