Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure to support VA's mission-critical operations.
- Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex network hardware and software issues.
- Monitor network performance, analyze traffic data, and optimize system reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal security standards, including FISMA and NIST protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute network upgrades and modernization projects.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to protect sensitive veteran data.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior IT staff and technical support teams.
Qualifications
- Four years of IT experience that included at least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR 3 years of graduate level education in a related field.
- Deep knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSI model), routing, and switching technologies.
- Experience with network management tools (e.g., Cisco IOS, SolarWinds, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is highly preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Secret clearance.
