Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain security protocols for federal IT systems including NIST 800-53 compliance
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA networks
- Lead incident response coordination during cybersecurity breaches
- Develop security awareness training programs for federal employees
- Manage security access controls and identity management systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on security architecture projects
- Ensure continuous monitoring and reporting of security posture
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of cybersecurity experience in federal/government environments
- Active Security+ CE certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, ArcSight) and vulnerability scanners
- Familiarity with FedRAMP and DoD RMF frameworks
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux system hardening
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
