Responsibilities
- Load and Sort Mail: Efficiently sort and load incoming mail onto delivery vehicles and conveyor systems according to postal standards and routes.
- Operate Equipment: Safely operate letter sorting machines, package handling equipment, and motor vehicles as required by the position.
- Deliver Packages: Transport and deliver mail and packages to residential and business addresses within the designated district.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers, answer inquiries regarding mail delivery, and resolve service issues on the route.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic inspections of delivery vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition before and after shifts.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible to work for the U.S. Government.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs repeatedly and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Driving Record: A valid driver's license is required, with a satisfactory driving record (MVR) check.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Residency: Must be willing to travel to various locations within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
