Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on public infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, and parks
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency weather-related incidents (snow removal, flooding, etc.)
- Conduct regular inspections of municipal facilities and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and city safety protocols
- Assist in public outreach during community events and service initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, maintenance, or public works
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., forklift, excavator) preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in team settings
