Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, dump trucks, graders) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency storm damage and flooding incidents
- Conduct inspections of public infrastructure to identify maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Document maintenance activities and submit detailed reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid Louisiana Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
