Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of public spaces including parks, sidewalks, and street furniture
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery including trucks, loaders, and snow removal equipment
- Respond to emergency weather conditions for snow/ice removal and storm cleanup
- Conduct daily inspections of assigned areas to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated public works projects
- Document work activities and submit accurate reports for compliance tracking
- Adhere to all OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Certification in heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in team settings
- Must pass background check and drug screening
