Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of public parks, playgrounds, and green spaces including landscaping, equipment inspection, and debris removal
- Operate heavy machinery (tractors, mowers, snow plows) safely and efficiently per municipal protocols
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure (sidewalks, signage, streetlights) and report maintenance needs
- Respond to citizen service requests regarding public property concerns within 24 hours
- Adhere to OSHA and city safety regulations during all field operations
- Assist with emergency response during severe weather events (snow removal, flood control)
- Maintain accurate equipment logs and submit weekly progress reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certification in landscaping or heavy equipment operation preferred
- Valid Kentucky Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years experience in grounds maintenance or municipal services
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety protocols
- Excellent communication abilities for interacting with residents and team members
- Pass background check and drug screening as required for municipal employment
