Responsibilities
- Monitor facility premises and inmate activities during overnight shifts using surveillance systems and patrols
- Conduct regular security checks to prevent contraband, escapes, or safety violations
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and security breaches with swift, professional action
- Document incidents and maintain detailed logs for compliance and reporting purposes
- Superv inmate movement and enforce institutional rules consistently
- Collaborate with day-shift staff during shift transitions for continuity of operations
- Participate in emergency response drills and security training exercises
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Physical fitness to meet job demands including long periods of standing and emergency response
- Strong communication skills for de-escalation and reporting
- Experience in security, law enforcement, or corrections highly valued
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Must be 21 years of age or older
