Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain 24/7 server infrastructure, databases, and network systems during overnight shifts
- Execute system backups, security patches, and performance optimizations
- Respond to critical incidents and troubleshoot technical issues with minimal downtime
- Document system configurations, changes, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with day-shift teams for seamless handover and knowledge transfer
- Ensure compliance with state IT security protocols and FISMA standards
- Proactively identify system vulnerabilities and implement corrective measures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and monitoring tools (Splunk, Nagios)
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security certification
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts with minimal supervision
- Valid California driver's license (for occasional site visits)
