Responsibilities
- Conduct routine patrols of government buildings, including entrances, parking lots, and stairwells, to deter unauthorized access and criminal activity.
- Monitor and operate state-of-the-art security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarm panels, and access control terminals.
- Enforce facility access policies, verifying credentials and issuing visitor passes as required by law.
- Respond promptly to security alarms, emergency incidents, and medical emergencies within the facility.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and logs using standard government software (e.g., CAD systems).
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency response teams during critical situations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is a plus.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid New York State Security Guard License.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure in emergency situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability to work rotating night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
