Responsibilities
- Document Management: Manage and organize high-volume court documents, filings, and case records with strict adherence to confidentiality standards and legal regulations.
- Public Interaction: Interact professionally with attorneys, judges, court staff, and the general public to provide accurate information regarding court schedules, docket numbers, and procedures.
- Data Entry: Operate complex court management software and perform accurate data entry for case management systems to ensure up-to-date digital records.
- Communication: Answer incoming phone lines, screen calls, and route messages efficiently to appropriate court personnel while maintaining a professional reception area.
- Record Keeping: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the clerk’s office, file rooms, and storage facilities to ensure easy retrieval of legal materials.
- Administrative Support: Assist in the preparation of legal correspondence, subpoenas, and court orders; support courtroom proceedings by organizing exhibits.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or Paralegal Studies is a strong plus.
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer navigation; fast typist preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to spot errors in data entry or document filing.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Integrity: Ability to pass a standard background check and drug screening (mandatory for government facilities).
- Professionalism: A professional demeanor and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the judicial system.
