Responsibilities
- Grounds Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on athletic fields, playgrounds, landscaping, and gardens to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
- Machinery Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment, including mowers, tractors, and irrigation systems.
- Event Support: Assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of community events, festivals, and recreational programs.
- Community Engagement: Interact with park visitors, enforce park rules, and provide information regarding park facilities and programs.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and order supplies, including mulch, seed, and maintenance tools, to keep operations running smoothly.
- Repairs: Conduct minor repairs to park structures, fencing, and fixtures as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Parks Management, Horticulture, or related field is preferred.
- Licensure: Valid New York State Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or facility management.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions; must be able to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and knowledge of safe operating procedures for heavy machinery.
