This role combines hands-on maintenance with direct community engagement in Missouri's largest park system.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily park maintenance including turf care, litter removal, and equipment inspection
- Operate landscaping machinery (mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers) safely and efficiently
- Support recreational programs by setting up facilities for sports leagues, events, and activities
- Interact professionally with park visitors, providing information and ensuring safety protocols
- Assist in seasonal projects like garden installations, trail repairs, and facility upgrades
- Monitor park conditions and report maintenance needs or safety hazards promptly
- Collaborate with team members on cleanup operations after events or severe weather
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 6 months of groundskeeping or maintenance experience
- Valid Missouri driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy machinery safely
- Strong physical stamina to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions
- Customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively with diverse community members
- Basic knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and horticulture practices
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays for special events
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
