Responsibilities
- Maintain park grounds including turf management, irrigation systems, and seasonal plantings
- Operate and maintain recreational equipment (playgrounds, athletic courts, fitness stations)
- Support event setup/teardown for festivals, sports leagues, and community gatherings
- Conduct daily safety inspections and report maintenance needs promptly
- Assist in developing and implementing youth/adult recreation programs
- Manage litter control and facility cleanliness across assigned parks
- Coordinate volunteer groups for park beautification projects
- Maintain accurate records of park conditions and maintenance activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in environmental science, recreation management, or related field preferred
- Valid NJ driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience operating landscaping/maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, etc.)
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor
- Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse community members
- Basic knowledge of park safety protocols and ADA compliance standards
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings for events
