Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of park grounds including mowing, trimming, litter removal, and irrigation system upkeep
- Operate and maintain recreational equipment such as playground structures, athletic courts, and picnic facilities
- Assist in seasonal park beautification projects including flower planting, tree pruning, and pathway clearing
- Monitor park usage, enforce safety regulations, and provide excellent customer service to visitors
- Collaborate with team members on facility inspections, minor repairs, and special event preparations
- Participate in snow removal operations during winter months
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment usage
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in environmental science, recreation management, or related field preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or park operations
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to operate power tools, machinery, and vehicles safely
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Strong communication skills and commitment to public service
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Knowledge of Boston's parks system and local environmental regulations
