Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, and raking across various park locations.
- Operate and maintain provided heavy equipment, such as riding mowers, tractors, and snow blowers, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist in the planting and maintenance of trees, flowers, shrubs, and other landscaping elements.
- Collect litter and maintain cleanliness of park benches, trash receptacles, and recreational facilities.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for community events and sports programs.
- Conduct minor repairs to park structures, fences, and playground equipment as directed.
- Ensure compliance with all city safety regulations and environmental guidelines during operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to operate standard and heavy landscaping machinery (training provided on provided equipment).
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor labor in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License (or ability to obtain) is a plus.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and public service.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and landscaping principles.
