Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough analyses of federal employee pension eligibility and vesting requirements under FERS/CSRS guidelines.
- Process and review retirement applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with federal regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service and detailed explanations to employees regarding their pension projections and benefit structures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of pension contributions, beneficiary designations, and plan amendments.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure seamless integration of pension data into the broader benefits administration system.
- Stay current with changes in federal retirement laws and pension legislation to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits administration, specifically focusing on federal or state government retirement plans (FERS/CSRS).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of federal retirement systems, including Thrift Savings Plans (TSP) and survivor benefits.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in complex financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS software (e.g., Workday, SAP, or similar).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-financial staff.
