Responsibilities
- Perform detailed and complex calculations for Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension estimates.
- Analyze retirement applications to determine eligibility, service credit, and high-3 average salary adjustments.
- Provide exceptional customer service and written correspondence to federal employees and retirees regarding benefit inquiries.
- Ensure strict compliance with OPM regulations, privacy laws (FOIA/FERPA), and agency procedural guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Retirement Operations Center to resolve discrepancies and process pension claims efficiently.
- Maintain precise records of pension transactions and prepare statistical reports for management review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, federal benefits processing, or actuarial analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), and federal retirement laws.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to individual cases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical benefit information to diverse audiences.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a mandatory background investigation.
