Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gather critical information, and dispatch appropriate police units
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate logs of all calls, incidents, and unit activities
- Provide clear instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency responses
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with multi-tasking environments
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
