Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls from the public, 911, and police scanners, assessing the nature and urgency of each emergency.
- Dispatch police units and fire services to appropriate locations using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide accurate information to callers and maintain detailed logs of all incidents and communications.
- Coordinate with field units, traffic management, and other city agencies to ensure a coordinated response.
- Monitor radio frequencies and alert personnel to developing situations.
- Assist in the processing of incident reports and data entry.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness during high-volume shifts.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess a valid Green Card.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer operations and data entry.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under stressful and emergency conditions.
