Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Calculations: Accurately calculate retirement benefits, survivor annuities, and refunds for members based on current laws and regulations.
- Process Retirement Applications: Review and approve retirement packets, ensuring all documentation meets compliance standards.
- Member Advisory Services: Provide clear, professional guidance to current and prospective retirees regarding eligibility, vesting, and payout options.
- Compliance & Auditing: Monitor data for accuracy and ensure all pension plans adhere to state and federal guidelines (ERISA, IRC).
- Weekly Payroll Support: Assist in the preparation and verification of weekly pay adjustments and related payroll transactions.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records in the OSRS database.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, government benefits, or actuarial science.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is essential) and experience with ERISA/Government pension systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-experts.
- Attention to Detail: Proven ability to handle sensitive financial data with the highest level of accuracy and integrity.
