Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the state pension plans, ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely processing of contributions, and correct benefit calculations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to retirees, beneficiaries, and state employees regarding eligibility, inquiries, and account status.
- Ensure strict compliance with Tennessee state statutes, the Internal Revenue Code, and ERISA regulations governing public pension funds.
- Prepare, analyze, and present complex actuarial reports and statistical data to leadership for long-term financial planning and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with external actuaries and internal auditors to maintain the accuracy and sustainability of the pension fund.
- Reconcile pension records and resolve discrepancies in data systems with high attention to detail.
- Assist in the development and updating of pension policy documentation and internal procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in government benefits administration, pension plan management, or actuarial support.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA, FERS, or state retirement systems is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) and experience with pension administration software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or custom state systems).
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proven track record of accuracy in data processing and financial reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a high-volume government environment.
