Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit payments, and member communications
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS) guidelines
- Conduct complex actuarial valuations and financial reporting for multi-million dollar retirement funds
- Develop and implement pension plan policies and procedures aligned with best practices
- Provide expert guidance to employees, retirees, and management on retirement planning and benefits
- Collaborate with external auditors and investment advisors to fund oversight and fiduciary responsibilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of pension plan administration experience in public/government sector
- SPBC or QKA certification strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS Code 401(a), and CalPERS regulations
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail and compliance
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for stakeholder interactions
