Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit accruals, and retirement processing
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and conduct annual plan audits
- Manage participant communications including education seminars and individual benefit counseling
- Analyze plan financial data and prepare actuarial reports for the Pension Board
- Coordinate with investment advisors and third administrators for seamless operations
- Develop and implement plan amendments with legal counsel review
- Lead special projects including retirement system modernization initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration experience with defined benefit plans
- SPBC or QKA certification preferred
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Benefit Systems)
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a), and Colorado pension statutes
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Government/public sector experience highly desirable
