Responsibilities
- Manage and administer state pension plans ensuring regulatory compliance (ERISA, IRS)
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and member inquiries
- Analyze pension fund performance and recommend investment strategy adjustments
- Develop and implement member education programs on retirement planning
- Collaborate with auditors and legal teams for annual compliance reviews
- Maintain accurate pension records using state-of-the-art HRIS systems
- Lead cross-departmental projects to optimize pension administration processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources
- 5+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred
- Expertise in ERISA, IRS regulations, and state pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills for complex benefit explanations
- Public sector or state government experience highly desirable
