Responsibilities
- Manage and administer defined benefit pension plans for 5,000+ public sector employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Process retiree applications, benefit calculations, and distribution payments
- Analyze financial data to maintain fund solvency and actuarial reporting
- Collaborate with auditors, legal counsel, and investment committees
- Develop educational materials for employees on retirement planning
- Manage pension software systems and data integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in government sector
- SPBC, CEBS, or QPA certification strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a), and California pension regulations
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., NCPERS, Oracle HCM)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial reports
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder education and conflict resolution
