Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end administration of state pension plans, including member records, contribution processing, and benefit verification.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension calculations to ensure strict compliance with state and federal regulations (ERISA, IRC).
- Provide exceptional customer service and detailed, timely responses to inquiries from current and retired state employees.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team and finance department to analyze retirement trends and ensure plan sustainability.
- Update and maintain accurate pension plan documentation, policy updates, and member correspondence.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll data and benefit calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for state oversight bodies and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, retirement planning, or government benefits administration.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- In-depth knowledge of ERISA, IRC, and applicable California state pension laws and compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
