Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive audits and examinations of pension plans to ensure compliance with ERISA and other federal regulations.
- Investigate complaints and allegations of fiduciary breaches, mismanagement, and non-compliance in pension plans.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to pension plan administrators, trustees, and service providers.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on audit findings and investigations.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and other federal agencies on complex pension-related cases.
- Stay current with changes in pension laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Represent the Department in meetings and discussions with plan sponsors and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension plan administration, auditing, or regulatory compliance.
- Thorough knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other relevant pension regulations.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and legal documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-experts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
