Responsibilities
- Manage pension plan enrollment, eligibility verification, and benefit calculations for state employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension statutes
- Develop and implement retirement education programs for public sector employees
- Analyze pension fund performance and recommend investment strategy adjustments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on policy development and system improvements
- Respond to complex retirement inquiries from beneficiaries and agency partners
- Prepare quarterly and annual pension plan reports for regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of pension plan administration experience
- Advanced knowledge of retirement regulations (ERISA, IRS Code 401(a))
- Proficiency with pension management software (e.g., Oracle HCM, PeopleSoft)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) designation preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder education and conflict resolution
- Experience working in public sector or regulated financial environment
