Responsibilities
- Analyze pension applications and retirement eligibility requests to ensure accuracy and adherence to federal guidelines.
- Consult with federal employees and their families to explain complex pension benefits, vesting schedules, and survivor options.
- Maintain and update secure digital and physical records for all pension participants with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to interpret changing federal retirement legislation.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or inquiries regarding pension calculations and service credits.
- Prepare detailed reports on pension fund performance and compliance metrics for senior management.
- Conduct training sessions for junior staff on pension processing software and procedural updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retirement planning, benefits administration, or federal service.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA, FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System), or similar pension systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP).
- Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to regulatory compliance standards.
