Responsibilities
- Calculate and process federal pension benefits for retiring employees with high accuracy.
- Interpret and apply OPM (Office of Personnel Management) regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct retirement counseling sessions to explain pension options, TSP (Thrift Savings Plan), and survivor benefits.
- Review and audit pension files to ensure compliance with federal laws and internal policies.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to resolve complex retirement inquiries.
- Maintain up-to-date records of all pension calculations and employee correspondence.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for management regarding retirement trends and statistics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in federal benefits administration, pension calculation, or retirement planning.
- Strong working knowledge of FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System) and CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain complex concepts to employees.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
