Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans for state employees and retirees ensuring compliance with NY State Retirement & Social Security Law
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and disbursement requests with 99% accuracy
- Advise employees on pension eligibility, contribution limits, and retirement planning strategies
- Conduct audits of pension records to ensure regulatory compliance and financial integrity
- Develop educational materials and workshops on retirement benefits for state agencies
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and HR departments to resolve complex pension disputes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years experience in pension administration, benefits management, or financial compliance
- Advanced knowledge of NY State Retirement System regulations and ERISA requirements
- Proficiency in pension management software (e.g., Oracle HCM, Workday) and MS Office Suite
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or SHRM-SPC designation preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail for complex financial calculations
- Strong communication abilities for explaining technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
