Responsibilities
- Process 911 and non-emergency calls with speed, accuracy, and empathy
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems while maintaining real-time situational awareness
- Coordinate with fire, EMS, and other city agencies during multi-incident responses
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation per department protocols
- Operate radio systems and emergency notification equipment during critical incidents
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers in distress
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license at time of hire
- U.S. citizenship and Pennsylvania residency required
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer-aided dispatch systems
