Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD systems and radio communications
- Dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS units based on incident severity and location
- Maintain detailed call logs and documentation per department protocols
- Provide critical information to field units and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Operate emergency notification systems and manage sensitive information securely
- Participate in continuous training to maintain certification and procedural knowledge
- Collaborate with other dispatchers during high-volume or critical incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in criminal justice preferred)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional communication skills in English
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Proven ability to remain calm under pressure during high-stress situations
- Valid California driver's license (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
