Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police officers, fire units, and medical services with precision and urgency
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications and incidents
- Operate radio systems, CAD software, and emergency alert platforms
- Provide critical information to first responders during active incidents
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major emergencies
- Remain calm under pressure while handling emotionally charged situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy verification
- Ability to pass extensive background check and drug screening
- Strong multitasking skills with ability to prioritize tasks dynamically
- Clear communication skills with excellent diction and comprehension
- Basic computer proficiency including Windows OS and database systems
- Must be 21+ years old with valid Tennessee driver's license
- No felony convictions; misdemeanor case-by-case evaluation
