As a trainee, you'll receive comprehensive training in emergency protocols, radio communication, and multi-agency coordination. This role is your gateway to becoming a certified dispatcher at the heart of Seattle's emergency operations.

Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using multi-line telephone systems
- Dispatch police units and other emergency services using CAD/RMS technology
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to first responders during active incidents
- Operate radio equipment and maintain constant communication with field units
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS, transportation) during multi-incident scenarios
- Adhere to all NIMS and FCC regulations for emergency communications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (will be tested during recruitment)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn specialized software
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background check
- 18 years of age or older at time of hire
- No felony convictions (misdemeanors reviewed case-by-case)
