Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police units to incidents
- Operate multi-channel radio systems to maintain contact with field units
- Enter and update information in CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems
- Provide critical instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency incidents
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute with accuracy
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry experience
- Valid Florida driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Must be available for flexible shifts including nights/weekends
